Durham Muslims Community is a registered charity serving the Muslim community of Durham and the wider County of Durham.
Our mission
We are working towards establishing a Mosque and Islamic Community Centre in Durham dedicated to worshipping Allah (‘Allah’ means ‘the God’) and fostering a strong sense of unity, compassion, and understanding among Muslims in the County of Durham. We want to create an inclusive and welcoming space which embraces the diversity of our community members and upholds the teachings and values of Islam.
What we do today
While we work towards a permanent building, we already run a full programme of worship and community activity across the year: weekly Jumu’ah prayers, activities throughout Ramadan, Eid prayers and celebrations for both Eids, and year-round community engagement. Who we are
Durham Muslims Community is governed by a board of trustees who volunteer their time and are responsible for the charity’s strategy, finances and compliance. Day-to-day activities are run by an elected executive committee. Everyone listed below serves as a volunteer.
